What is a tracker?
A tracker (or "cookie" in the broad sense) is information stored on or read from your device when you visit a website: HTTP cookie, browser local storage, pixel, identifier. Article 82 of French Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 (Data Protection Act), which transposes Directive 2002/58/EC, requires your consent before any tracker is stored, except for trackers strictly necessary for the service you request or whose sole purpose is to enable electronic communication.

This tracker falls within the exemptions in the CNIL guidelines (Deliberation No. 2020-091 of 17 September 2020), which expressly mention trackers used to keep the user's choice about trackers. It is read and written only by the site's script (/js/bertrum.js), contains no personal identifier and is never sent to our servers or to any third party.
The site sets no HTTP cookies.
Banner categories
The banner offers five categories so that you can make a precise choice should we ever add a service. At present only strictly necessary data is used:

Accepting or rejecting the optional categories does not switch any tracker on or off today, since none is installed. Your choice is nevertheless recorded and will be respected.
Third-party services
No third-party content is embedded in the pages: no interactive map (the access map is a plain link to OpenStreetMap, opened only if you click it), no embedded video, no social media button, no font loaded from an external server, no statistics tool.
Contact form: when you submit the form, your browser sends the data to the FormSubmit service (formsubmit.co), then returns to our confirmation page. During this exchange, FormSubmit may use its own technical trackers on its domain; we have no access to them. See the privacy policy and the information published by FormSubmit. To avoid this exchange, contact us by e-mail or phone.
Changing your choice
The banner is shown on your first visit. It does not block access to the site. The “Accept all”, “Reject all” and “Customise” buttons have the same size and visibility: rejecting is as easy as accepting.
You can change your mind at any time using the “Manage cookies” button at the bottom of every page. Your choice is kept for 6 months; after that it is automatically deleted and the banner is shown again.
You can also clear the site's local storage in your browser settings ("site data" or "cookies and site data"). The banner will then reappear on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add a service using trackers that require consent, we will update this policy, change the version of the storage key and ask for your consent again before anything is stored.
